Walter Nobbe (Malang, 22 February 1941 – 19 april 2005) was a Dutch painter and theatre Designer. Nobbe studied at the Royal Academy of Arts in the Hague. He graduated in 1964 and shared a studio apartment with Pat Andrea who graduated a year later. Walter combined teaching (first in secondary school, later at the Academy in Rotterdam) with the painting. His first exhibition, in 1966, took place at Gallery 20 of Felix Valk Arnhem, along with lifelong friend Pat Andrea with whom he was, already took both career a different direction. Both were they in that start time strongly influenced by the work of teacher Co Westerik. In 1971 received Walter Nobbe the Royal grant for painting. In the same year he made his first drafts of decor and costumes for the Dutch dance theatre. With the dance theatre he goes a long commitment, first working for JiÅ™í Kylián, later for Nacho Duato. From 1969 to 1973 he was Professor at the Academy of fine arts in Rotterdam. From 1973 he dedicated himself to work for the Dutch dance theatre. In addition, he arranged his free figurative painter remained work (interiors, still lifes and male naked torsos) in galleries. In the 1970s he formed together with Pat Andrea and Peter blokhuis the ABN group.
