Rumen Rachev was born in Bulgaria in 1956. In 1975 he graduated from the High School of Fine Arts, Sofia to Bulgaria. In sequel he is further study at the National Academy of Fine Arts in Sofia, where he graduated in 1982. His work is more known abroad than in Bulgaria. For 18 years, he has lived and worked in Germany; the last six years he has been working more in Bulgaria without its connections with German galleries and colleagues to lose. From 1988 to 1996, he has had solo exhibitions in USA, Finland, Netherlands (Westerkerk, Amsterdam and Donner in Rotterdam), Germany, Sweden, Switzerland, Italy, Belgium, England and Russia. In 1991 he won the Honorable ' award ' of the international jury of Toronto, Canada. Since 1996 he presents his works also show in Bulgaria. His paintings are included in the collections of the National Art Gallery in Sofia, the Sofia City Art Gallery, the Museum of Modern Art and the Library in New York, the Museum of New Orleans, museums in Bremen and Zurich and other public and private collections. Rumen Rachev late in his paintings the composition and images seen in the spirit of German Expressionism with a slight bend to El Greco, Picasso and David Hockney. This will put a picture of Rumen Rachev that memorable and that a lasting part of the art world.
