Rinke Nijburg trained at the Academy of fine arts, Arnhem (1982-1987), Ateliers Arnhem (1990-1991) and the Rijksakademie van beeldende kunsten, Amsterdam (1993-1994). He belonged to the winners of the Royal subsidy for painting (1992), the Buning Bandara prices (1994), the Prix de Rome (1998) and the Gelderland Chart price (1999). Religion is an important source of inspiration for his art. Though protestant, are Nijburg's artistic roots in the visual richness of Rinke the Catholic tradition and he is the last years also inspired by Eastern religions like Buddhism and Hinduism. He connects his work in religion, mythology, comics, fairy tales and the social current events to a staggering cosmology. Musings and thoughts that concern him are on his blogspot to follow. The work of Nijburg is in several public, Museum, private and corporate collections and he is frequently active as a curator, often in the context of the activities of Foundation "the friends of Job". That he founded in 2000 on together with Wout Herfkens and Jan Meijering with the aim of organizing projects of contemporary professional Visual Arts with a religious or philosophical content.
