Pjotr Konkel, born in 1963 in Poland and youngest of seven children, fled in 1974 along with his mother and sister the hard existed under the former Communist regime and came to Netherlands. In 1980 he goes to the Graphic School in Amsterdam. Two years later he left for the Hague to there at the Royal Academy of Arts to study graphic design. Pjotr works primarily with oil paint and acrylic on paper, linen and Panel. What he expresses with his paintings has everything to do with his youth in Poland, his Catholic upbringing and his love to the unrecognizable. This includes primary and emotional desires of man. This conscious (or unconscious) desires he weaves together in a subtle way in his work. He uses powerful archetypal images, assisted by texts. Pjotr sees his work as a record of his past and as a result also as a trip to undiscovered Interior landscapes.
