Heemstede 1930-2008 Heemstede
Working period: c. 1945-2005
Education: self-taught.
Got first indications of his father Jan Wiegman. His father advised him to be painter. He studied at Piet Kloes to bennebroek. With his uncle Matthieu Wiegman, he traveled to Mallorca. There, he signed with particular café scenes that he could sell it to meet the costs. During that time he produced very strong compositional work, not only in oil but also in lino. At Piet home was a coming and going of local Haarlem painters and writers. The last years of his life were tormented by illness and ran his production.
Piet Wiegman was for some years taught by P.C. Kloes and is part self-taught. He paints, draws and etches in an expressionist style.
His subjects are; people in groups, cafés, terraces, portraits and landscapes. He makes rake drawings. Piet Wiegman was a member of Art group ´Kunst zij ons doel´ in Haarlem.
