Marli Turion is a painter and graphic artist.
She studied at the Academies of Art in Maastricht and Arnhem . She was awarded several art sholarships for study/travel in Poland and Hungary and for development of her work through the Dutch Foundation for Visual Arts. She won the National Prize for Graphic Art in the Netherlands.
Her particular technique and style involves overlaying of several images to achieve a dynamic translucence and richness of depth in the resulting work. In paintings and drawings this may consist, for example, of an overlying landscape, painted or composed by dot matrix spray, through wich a family portrait appears. The subject matter and prominence of the several images will be varied in each work. Inspiration for the layered images are drawn typicall from family photographs, personal sketches and drawings, art reproductions and newspaper / magazine visual material.
In her graphic art a colour photograph and transparent overlay of a second image created in black or white are computer scanned, printed and mounted.
