Biography of Mark Verdoes

Already from an early age has expressed itself Verdoes creative drawing and music; He made his first picture ´ s at about the age of six. In the early 1980s, he studied at the school of photography and Photonics in the Hague. As a photo journalist, he began working for various magazines, such as avant-garde and Esquire. In 1990 he became a member of the photo agency Hollandse Hoogte in Amsterdam. More than 10 years ago, he began painting and sculpting and he studied at the Royal Academy in the Hague. After a number of years the assignment photography had given way to a life dedicated to the Visual Arts. Photography, however, remained always. How much the photography in his heart was clear when he picked up the camera again a few years ago. The years in the Studio, struggling with paint, shape and composition were found his attitude towards photography pretty to have changed. Nowadays he approaches the medium in the same way as when he was working on making paintings. Playing with the reality he feels free to for example changes to colors and lighting. After the operations, the photography printed on watercolor paper, what a gouache-like look. This all results in autonomous images that transcend the traditional photography; images that Mark Verdoes myself like to calls as visual poetry.
