Biography of Marijke Verhoef
Marijke Verhoef, born in 1946 in Groningen, studied at the Academy for industrial design in Eindhoven and at the free Academy in the Hague. The artist currently lives and works in Leiden. The oeuvre of Verhoef consists of paintings, drawings, etchings, wood prints, edited images and computer prints. She works alternating between the abstract and figurative style. She imagines her impressions in abstract, graphic monumental prints, and adjusts for different techniques. Displayed next to abstracted landscapes, has also made series in which many figurative elements Verhoef. She finds foundations and old maps fascinating and is inspired by this computerpints in the series ' Process ', in which geometric-style patterns are set against a kind of star system of spheres. The oeuvre of Verhoef is included in the collections of companies, institutions and museums in the Netherlands and abroad, including the Stedelijk Museum de Lakenhal in Leiden. In Europe she has her work exhibited in both solo and group, with the Museum of Oxford, the Pulchri Studio in The Hague and the Dutch Embassy in London. In 1992 the Jacob Verhoef Hartog received Prize for her chart. In addition to her work as a visual artist, Verhoef Mentor Graphics to the free Academy in the Hague and visiting professor at Pentiment Summer Academy in Hamburg.
