Biography of Lucio the Pezzo
Born: 13 december 1933, Naples, Italy
One of the founders of the Group 58 of Naples, neodadaist, neosurrealista and setting of the piece has also collaborated with the magazine South Document. His works from the period 1958-1960 proposed assemblies of various objects, including fragments of prints and popular images. In 1960 he moved to Paris, then to Milan, where monographic exhibitions have been dedicated to him (the first in 1974). Since 1962 he made his typical repertoire of "pictures" or "sculptures", made up of geometric, monochrome panels are install shelves or dug concavity, which support regular geometric objects (pins, wooden eggs, bottles, Dummies, etc.) sometimes very colourful. In his paintings-objects and assemblages is ever-present the fun aspect. For the ironic tone and for using everyday objects out of context, these works are reminiscent of Pop Art; but there is a noticeable recovery of Giorgio De Chirico, Carlo Carrà and Giorgio Morandi (reason, 1967), and the geometry of metaphysical painting.
