Biography of Jules Lismonde

Jules Lismonde born in Anderlecht and died in Linkerbeek.
Jules Lismonde is a draughtsman and engraver. Aluchromist. Designer of stained-glass Windows and carpets.
Debuts figurative and is coming soon to a very personal, linear abstraction.
Student at the Academies of Brussels (1924-30, g. Combaz, e. Fabry, c. Montald) and Saint-Josse-ten-Noode.
Painted in the Pajottenland and gets advice from e. Bah. Goes in 1930 with painter-etcher a. Apol. Set in 1930 for the first time, in Brussels. Art teacher (1932-63). In 1934 he resumes, after a break of two years, follows his artistic activities and lessons at the Academy of Saint-Josse-ten-Noode (h. Ottevaere and j. Maes). There he meets, among others, a. Bonnet, g. Bertrand and l. Van Lint. Works in the free workshop L'Effort. Exhibits in Gallery Apollo (1942). Participates in Apport 44 and 45. Occurs in 1946 a member of the Jeune Peinture Belge and takes part in the exhibitions in Amsterdam (1946) and Zurich (1947). Studying in 1952 lithograph at the Institute of Arts and crafts in Brussels. Completes itself to the Chalcografie in Rome (1954). Co-founder and President of Cap d'Encre (1963). Notes with success to numerous national and international exhibitions.
Performs numerous commands from decoration (carpets, stained-glass Windows and murals) for public buildings; among other things, in the Royal Library and the metro station Pétillon in Brussels (1976). 
Member of the Royal Academy (1982). Work a.o. in the print room in Liege and in the museums of Antwerp, Brussels, Charleroi, Ixelles, Liège, Ostend, Paris, Lugano, Luxembourg, Rotterdam and Hamburg.
