(1931-1995) Born in 1931, Buenos Aires, Argentina, to Polish parents, and immigrated to Israel in 1939, at the age of 8. Modzelevich began painting in childhood. Studies: 1950-51 with A. Yaskil and Meir Ravitz, Haifa; 1959-60 advanced studies, Paris.
He achieved at an early age a distinguished style and reputation which brought him a solo exhibition in Tel Aviv at the age of 25, and many exhibitions thereafter in Israel, New York, and Paris. He also participated in group exhibitions in Israel and aboard and in 1958 won the Milo Artists' Club prize in Tel Aviv.
Selected Exhibitions: 10th Anniversary Exhibitions in Jerusalem and Tel Aviv; 1962 Helena Rubinstein Pavilion, Tel Aviv Museum.
From 1964 had independent studio, "Kedem", Old Jaffa.
Many of his paintings have been acquired by museums in Israel and abroad as well as by art collectors in the U.S.A, England, France and Israel.
Efraim Modzelevich was a highly gifted colorist with well developed sense of composition. He used abstract means of expression but he did not cut himself off from the appearance of things as they are in nature. He has found the golden mean between reality and abstraction. Died in 1995.
