After completing his training at the Academy in Utrecht Ed Koenders developed a career in both the free and applied art. As a fine artist he produced illustrations commissioned by almost all major advertising agencies and publishing houses in Netherlands. In addition he exhibited in various galleries for a wide audience. His field of action extended of oil paint and airbrush to digital design. The stormy development of the possibilities within this technique in the 1990s had a irresistible to him. The cartoons of Ed Koenders are best described as surreal.
