Jelis van Dolderen, born in 1954 in Kesteren, was educated at the Academy of fine arts in Arnhem. Shapes, colors and textures are used in the work of Jelis van Dolderen as symbolic representations of Earth, sky and space; the physical and the non-material. The combination of these abstractions he creates his unique style.
Jelis van Dolderen says itself in its work to investigate conflicting, infinite and versatile magnitudes. He makes not to appoint elements visible in form and color. This painterly principles are arranged in all things he makes. In each painting, but also in series graphics and installations. In this way he creates a private ' picture world ' in which he targeted and harmonic order for him. He tries a new Visual reality to sketch from the constructed meanings of the things around us. Jelis also States: ' I research and rearrange painterly traditions in Visual statements with regard to concepts and images from reality '.
