Dodog came as Indonesian artist from a completely different world with its own color use in 1980 to Netherlands. His work can be seen as a meeting between Europe and Asia. In bright colors he outlines created from his dreams a fantasy world. Every work is a kind of story made up of different images and put down in primary forms, in a childlike imagery. Soeseno Dodog is born in 1953 in Indonesia, and now lives in Utrecht and in Japan. He works with all kinds of materials such as paper, fabric, screen prints, and for this symposium has he made a small installation. The idea comes from a temple in Japan. People go there every day to that temple and call the attention of God. Then people get a message, a umikuji. If it's a bad message is, they let him sail along on the wind through it on a line. His artwork his lines in a triangle hung, to the three stages of life (birth, life, death), or to the great desire of everyone: good life, healthy life, and prosperity. It should remain mysterious, like life seriously. It is intended that people there to hang their wishes, without anyone ever knowing it what they desired, because then it's not wish more but want one.
