David Hamilton (born 15 april 1933 – 25 november 2016) was a British photographer and film director. He became world famous for his portraits of young, nude teenage girls in a dreamy, hazy environment. Hamilton sold tens of millions of posters and books and belonged in the seventies and eighties of the twentieth century to the most famous photographers in the world. In Paris he was since 1953 first designer for fashion magazine Elle and later art director for Printemps department stores, the largest department store in Paris. He began in that time also with photography and was known by the typical soft focus style. This style was also known as the Hamilton blur '. He photographed mostly scantily clad, mostly young women. The pictures of David Hamilton are placed in the world's leading magazines. In addition to photographer Hamilton has also a number of films directed in which he used the same soft focus style.
